About Us

Friends of Community Parks ("FCP") was created to support and enhance the public parks and recreational areas of Independence and Monmouth, ensuring they remain vibrant, accessible, and well-maintained spaces for the health, wellness, and enjoyment of all community members. Because our Board of Directors, Officers, and Committee Members are volunteers from the local community, we are committed to advocating for and supporting our parks in direct alignment with our community's needs. Friends of Community Parks (EIN 39-4825188) is registered with the Oregon Secretary of State as a Nonprofit Corporation and has filed Form RF-C with the Oregon DOJ. We have applied for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization status from the IRS. Until our IRS determination letter is issued, individual contributions may not be tax-deductible. Once our IRS determination letter is issued, our tax-exempt status will be retroactive to October 10, 2025.
